Aragon AI Review
Aragon AI hands-on: how the AI headshot generator handles real selfies, pricing verified live, and how it compares to Proshoot and BetterPic.

Aragon AI is worth it if you want a fast, polished, professional-looking headshot and don't need it to match your actual face with precision. It generates in as little as 15 minutes and includes a built-in editor no competitor matches. It is a weaker choice if likeness matters most: both independent sources that tested it documented the same pattern, features like eyebrows and body shape getting "corrected" toward a generic version of you rather than an accurate one. Its pricing is exactly what it advertises; one widely cited comparison's processing-time numbers are not.
Is Aragon AI Worth It?
I'd use Aragon AI for a fast, professionally styled headshot where some smoothing or altering of your actual features is an acceptable trade-off. I wouldn't use it when an exact likeness matters more than polish. That split held up across the two independent tests I dug into for this review.
I ran Aragon AI against real photos found the same pattern: the outputs look professional, but specific, identifiable features (eyebrow shape, body proportions, sometimes more) get changed in ways nobody asked for. Aragon's own site claims a 99% satisfaction rate. Neither independent test I found nor my experience came close to confirming that number, though neither called the product bad. Both rated it competitive on speed and polish, just not on accuracy.
What Is Aragon AI?
Aragon AI turns a handful of selfies into a batch of professional-looking headshots. You upload at least 6 clear photos, choose preferences (hair, eye color, body type, attire, and background), and Aragon generates a set of 40 to 100 finished images, depending on the plan.
I confirmed three things that distinguish it from most competitors in this category directly against aragon.ai:
- A built-in post-generation editor. It adjusts background, attire and pose after generation, with no restart of the batch required. Neither Proshoot nor BetterPic offers this, per Proshoot's own comparison.
- Security certifications. SOC 2 Type II compliance, AES-256 encryption, and GDPR compliance, aimed at organizations with strict data policies.
- A free-redo-or-refund policy, conditional on your uploaded photos meeting Aragon's stated guidelines.
How Realistic Are the Headshots, Really?
Aragon AI's own site claims a 99% satisfaction rate. The two independent tests I found both documented specific, repeatable defects instead. The gap between the marketing number and what actually happens when someone runs their own photos through it is the most useful thing I found before paying.
Proshoot's review cites an independent test by Sarah Gillam, a Lead Instructional Designer who ran the same source photos through four AI headshot tools and published her results on Medium. Her Aragon results showed:
- Eyebrows made "darker, fuller, and more even" than her actual asymmetrical eyebrows, an unrequested "correction"
- Body proportions that, in some outputs, bore "almost no resemblance" to her actual body type
- One image with an anatomical error: three hands visible in the frame
AiHeadshotDude ran a separate test and reported different but related problems: facial distortion concentrated around the eyes, and in some outputs, teeth and lips rendered incorrectly. That reviewer's overall verdict placed Aragon in the "top 10" of AI headshot generators tested but "far behind the top 3."
Neither source reported these as occasional glitches. Both described them as a consistent pattern across multiple generated images, not isolated bad outputs.
Who's Reviewing Aragon, and What They Sell
Both independent sources I used for this review have a reason to steer readers toward a different product, and neither discloses it prominently. The Proshoot review is written by Rajat, Proshoot's own founder. Proshoot is a direct competitor to Aragon in the AI headshot category, and the article ends by recommending Proshoot. The AiHeadshotDude review carries an affiliate disclaimer and closes by recommending BetterPic.io as "the number one best AI headshot generator" instead of Aragon.
That doesn't make either source's specific findings wrong. Proshoot's review draws its defect list from a third party's (Sarah Gillam's) independently published test rather than self-testing, and AiHeadshotDude's pricing table matches the live site on dollar amounts. But it's the reason both reviews land on "choose something else" as their conclusion, and it's worth knowing before I treat either verdict as neutral.
Aragon AI vs. Proshoot and BetterPic
| Aragon AI | Proshoot | BetterPic | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Face likeness (per Sarah Gillam's test, via Proshoot) | Moderate: styled but drifts from the source photo | Strong: consistent to source | Not tested in this comparison |
| Distinctive features | Often smoothed or "corrected" | Preserved | Not tested in this comparison |
| Turnaround | As fast as 15 minutes (Executive plan) | ~10 minutes | Not stated in either source |
| Built-in editor | Yes: background, attire, pose | Yes | Not stated in either source |
| Security certifications | SOC 2, AES-256, GDPR | Standard | Not stated in either source |
| Pricing | $35-$75 one-time | $35-$59 | Recommended by AiHeadshotDude as its top pick, without a published side-by-side |
BetterPic appears in this comparison only because AiHeadshotDude names it as the alternative it recommends over Aragon. Neither of this review's two sources ran a documented head-to-head against BetterPic the way Proshoot did against its own product.
Pricing, Checked Live
Aragon AI's individual pricing runs $35 to $75 as a one-time purchase, with processing time dropping as the price rises: 45 minutes on the cheapest plan down to 15 minutes on the most expensive. I checked directly against aragon.ai/pricing on 2026-09-17:
| Plan | Price | Headshots | Processing time | Attires / backgrounds | Resolution |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | $35 | 40 | 45 minutes | 1 / 1 | Standard |
| Standard | $45 | 60 | 30 minutes | 2 / 2 | Standard |
| Executive | $75 | 100 | 15 minutes | All / All | Enhanced |
Proshoot's published comparison matches this table exactly. AiHeadshotDude's doesn't: it lists processing times of 120, 60 and 60 minutes for the same three tiers, two to four times longer than what the live site actually shows. The dollar amounts in both sources are correct; only the processing-time figures in one of them are wrong.
Aragon also lists monthly subscription tiers for ongoing access at roughly $15 to $29 per month, per the site's own pricing page, plus a refund-or-free-redo policy that's conditional on the uploaded photos meeting Aragon's stated guidelines. Read it closely before you buy if you're not confident your photos qualify.
Who Should Use Aragon AI (and Who Shouldn't)
For:
- Anyone who needs a polished, professional-looking headshot fast and doesn't need it to be a precise likeness. The Executive plan generates 100 images in as little as 15 minutes
- Organizations with strict data-handling requirements, given the SOC 2 Type II, AES-256 and GDPR certifications
- Anyone who wants to adjust background, attire or pose after generation without starting over, using the built-in editor
Not for:
- Anyone who wants their actual distinguishing features (eyebrow shape, body type, anything specific to how you look) preserved rather than smoothed toward a generic version
- Anyone treating Aragon's 99% satisfaction claim as a guarantee, given that both independent tests I found documented repeatable defects
- Anyone comparing processing-time claims across review sites without checking the vendor's own pricing page first
Where This Fits in the AI Image Toolkit
This is the AI Image Tools section's first review of a headshot-specific generator. The cluster's existing reviews (Midjourney, DALL-E, Adobe Firefly) cover general-purpose image generation, not the identity-preservation trade-offs that matter specifically for headshots.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Aragon AI trustworthy?
As a company, yes: it has a 4.7-out-of-5 Trustpilot rating across roughly 6,900 reviews, SOC 2 Type II compliance, and a stated refund policy. As a tool that reproduces your exact appearance, the two independent tests I found suggest more caution. Both found it altering features rather than preserving them.
How much does Aragon AI cost?
Individual one-time packages run from $35 (40 headshots) to $75 (100 headshots), which I verified directly against aragon.ai/pricing on 2026-09-17. Monthly subscription plans for ongoing access run roughly $15 to $29, per the same source.
Who owns Aragon AI?
Aragon states its technology was built by AI researchers and alumni from MIT, Meta and Google, per the company's own site. I couldn't verify company ownership beyond that claim in the independent sources I used for this review.
Is there a free version of Aragon AI?
No. Aragon AI has no free tier. Every plan is a paid one-time purchase or subscription, which I confirmed on both the live pricing page and in AiHeadshotDude's independent review.
